Inspirational poem “stopping by the woods on a snowy evening”

The poem “stopping by the woods on a snowy evening” is written by Robert Frost. It’s always been a great inspiration as it’s about coming out of the beautiful comfort zone and to continue the journey of life.

The poem “stopping by the woods on a snowy evening” and the speaker here is the stranger who stopped in forest, admiring what his eyes saw, the stunning beauty of forest. The stranger is in the woods and has a horse who thinks its weird that its owner has stopped in a place that does not have a farmhouse, but a place that is in between the woods and the frozen lake. The woods are cold, dark, silent, lifeless and deep. The stranger wants to stay there as he admires the beauty of that place but he cannot since he has to continue his journey towards the promises he made in life.

There are symbols in the poem to represent the situation of life. The woods represent journey of life, the horses’ bell brings back the stranger to reality and make him conscience of the surrounding. The theme revolves around the poet’s philosophy; the stranger would love to stay in the woods where he is alone and at peace. He has to decide whether he should stay there or get back to his life and responsibilities. As he says “the woods are lovely, dark and deep. But I have promises to keep.” He has to decide between temptation and his promises & responsibilities of life he had.

At the End, Poet comes to conclusion and tell us that everyone in life has their shares of ups and downs, and many are tempted to get out from the responsibilities they have but then there are more important things in your life, like your responsibilities towards certain things, people and most importantly for yourself.  One must continue the journey of life because the show must go on. As poet beautifully says
“The woods are lovely, dark and deep,
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep”.
